Vattenpumpstång Knipex 88 01 180

The Knipex 88 01 180 tongue-and-groove pliers are 180 mm long, designed for versatile gripping and turning of pipes, nuts and various shaped workpieces. They offer an extended gripping capacity compared with conventional water pump pliers of the same length, with a maximum pipe diameter of 42 mm and a maximum nut size of 36 mm. The pliers are made from forged chrome vanadium electric steel, oil‑hardened, with hardened gripping teeth for durable, slip-resistant performance while remaining slim in the head and joint area for good access in confined spaces.

Advantages

These pliers provide up to 30% more gripping capacity thanks to a 9‑notch adjustment system that allows precise positioning. The box‑joint design and double guide give high stability and robustness, while the self‑locking feature on pipes and nuts reduces required hand force and prevents slipping. Hardened teeth (approx. 61 HRC) ensure high wear resistance and stable gripping. The slim head and joint improve access to the workpiece, and a protective guard reduces the risk of finger pinching. The construction is insensitive to dirt, making the tool particularly suitable for outdoor work.

Suitable for

• Gripping and turning pipes up to 42 mm diameter
• Working with nuts up to 36 mm across flats
• General gripping and holding of irregular or rounded components
• Use in tight or confined spaces due to slim head design

How to use

Open the pliers and select the appropriate notch to fit the pipe or nut. Position the slim head on the workpiece so the hardened teeth engage securely, then squeeze the handles until the self‑locking action takes effect. For turning, apply steady force and reposition the pliers as needed using the adjustment notches. After use, wipe away dirt and store the tool in a dry place to maintain the hardened surfaces and joint action.

Recommendations

For safe and long service life, avoid using the pliers as a hammer or pry bar and do not exceed the specified pipe and nut sizes. Regularly clean and lightly oil the joint to prevent seizing, and wear appropriate hand protection when working in outdoor or dirty environments.
