Tång Knipex 90 42 340

The Knipex 90 42 340 pliers are designed for joining metal section sheets used in drywall construction by forming a lock seam. Constructed from special rolled, oil‑hardened tool steel, these pliers measure 340 mm in length and have an ergonomic blue-and-red handle for reliable grip and leverage while working with U‑ and C‑shaped profiles up to 1.2 mm total metal thickness (2 x 0.6 mm). The tool balances durability with reduced hand effort through an optimized lever transmission.

Advantages

Made from special tool steel that is rolled and oil‑hardened for long life, the pliers require minimum hand force thanks to optimized lever transmission. They are specifically shaped to join U‑ and C‑shaped metal sections with a lock seam and provide consistent, repeatable performance in drywall framing tasks. The 340 mm length improves reach and mechanical advantage for tougher seams.

Suitable for

• Joining metal section sheets in drywall and partition systems
• Forming lock seams on U‑ and C‑shaped profiles
• Professional installation and renovation work with sheet metal up to 1.2 mm total thickness

Key specifications

How to use

Position the pliers so the jaws engage the edges of the U‑ or C‑shaped metal sections where the lock seam is to be formed. Squeeze the handles evenly to bend and secure the seam; the optimized lever transmission reduces the handforce required. Work along the seam in short overlapping steps to achieve a uniform fold and check alignment periodically. Keep fingers clear of the jaw area while operating.

Recommendations

For safe and long-lasting performance, inspect the pliers for damage before use, use appropriate personal protective equipment (gloves and eye protection), and avoid applying the tool to metals exceeding the specified maximum thickness of 1.2 mm.
