Sticksåg Stanley 2-15-599

The Stanley 2-15-599 rip saw is a 500 mm hand saw designed for cutting wood along the grain. It combines a hardened blade profile and a comfortable black-and-yellow handle to provide controlled, straight cuts in a range of woodworking tasks. The saw's length and tooth geometry are intended to deliver efficient material removal and reduced binding when ripping boards and panels.

Advantages

The rip saw offers a robust blade that maintains tooth sharpness during repeated use and a handle shaped for ergonomic grip and consistent control. Its 500 mm blade length balances reach and maneuverability, making it suitable for common carpentry and joinery work. The saw's construction is intended to give user confidence when making long, straight rip cuts in softwoods and hardwoods of moderate thickness.

Suitable for

• Ripping long boards and planks along the grain
• Preparing lumber for joinery and frame construction
• On-site carpentry and general woodworking tasks
• DIY projects that require straight, controlled cuts in timber

Key specifications

• Blade length: 500 mm
• Type: rip saw (designed for cutting along the grain)
• Handle: ergonomically shaped black and yellow handle for comfortable grip
• Blade material: hardened cutting edge for improved durability
• Cutting action: aggressive tooth geometry for efficient ripping

How to use

Secure the workpiece firmly using clamps or a bench vise to prevent movement during cutting. Mark the cut line clearly and start with a light forward stroke to establish the kerf, then apply steady, full-length strokes using the full blade length for even cutting. Keep the saw aligned with the intended cut and use controlled, consistent pressure to avoid binding; let the saw's tooth geometry do the work rather than forcing the blade. Periodically clear sawdust from the cut to maintain visibility and efficient cutting.

Recommendations

Use this rip saw for longitudinal cuts in softwoods and hardwoods up to moderate thickness. For precise joinery, ensure square and secure clamping and consider finishing cuts with a finer-toothed saw or plane. Maintain the blade by cleaning pitch and resin buildup and sharpening or replacing the blade when cutting performance diminishes.
