Managed Switch TP-Link JetStream 16-portars Gigabit TL-SG2218

The TP-Link JetStream TL-SG2218 is a managed 16-port Gigabit switch with two SFP slots, designed for centralized Omada SDN management. It provides a 36 Gbit/s switching capacity and supports standard IEEE networking protocols in a 1U rack-mountable black chassis. The switch is intended for deployments that require reliable wired connectivity, scalable network segmentation and integration with access points and gateways under a single cloud-managed interface.

Advantages

The TL-SG2218 supports Omada Software Defined Networking (SDN) for centralized cloud access, a broad set of L2+ and L3 features for scalable routing and segmentation, and enterprise-level capabilities such as 802.1Q VLAN, Link Aggregation, STP/RSTP/MSTP and IGMP Snooping. Security features include IP–MAC–Port–VID binding, port security, DHCP snooping and ACLs (L2–L4). Two SFP slots add fiber connectivity options for uplinks or long-distance links.

Suitable for

• Small and medium business networks
• Office and campus deployments
• Hospitality and retail environments
• Service provider and ISP edge use with PPPoE/802.3ah support

Key specifications

• Ports: 16 x Gigabit RJ-45, 2 x SFP slots
• Switching capacity: 36 Gbit/s
• MAC address table: 8,000 entries
• Managed switch with L2+ / L3 features including static routing
• Supported standards: IEEE 802.3, 802.3u, 802.3ab, 802.3z
• Form factor: 1U rack-mountable, colour: Black

How to use

Mount the TL-SG2218 in a 19" rack using the included brackets or place it on a flat surface. Connect Gigabit devices to the RJ‑45 ports and fiber uplinks to the SFP slots as needed. Access the switch management through the Omada SDN controller (cloud or local controller) to configure VLANs, link aggregation, QoS policies and security features. Use 802.1X authentication with a RADIUS server for user-level network access control and enable DHCP snooping and ACLs to harden the network against common threats.

Recommendations

For optimal performance in mixed wired/wireless Omada deployments, configure VLANs to separate guest and corporate traffic, enable IGMP Snooping for multicast efficiency, and apply QoS rules to prioritize voice and video. Use SFP modules compatible with the TL-SG2218 for fiber uplinks and monitor link status with OAM/DLDP where supported.
