LevelOne 16-portars Gigabit-switch

The LevelOne GEU-1621 Gigabit Switch is a 16-port unmanaged Ethernet switch that delivers true Gigabit connections over RJ-45 (10/100/1000) ports. Designed for small offices, rack installations or network edge deployments, it provides a MAC address table of 8,000 entries and a switching capacity of 32 Gbit/s to ensure efficient transfer of large or high-bandwidth files.

Advantages

The switch uses store-and-forward architecture to filter errors and forward packets in a non-blocking environment, while IEEE 802.3x and backpressure flow control support reliable full- and half-duplex operation. Energy-efficient features compliant with IEEE 802.3az allow the device to enter low-power states when links are idle. Auto-negotiation and Auto-MDI/MDI-X simplify installation, and diagnostic LEDs provide real-time connection status.

Suitable for

• Small and medium office networks requiring 1 Gbit/s ports
• Rack-mounted access or aggregation at the network edge
• File servers and workstations transferring large or high-bandwidth data
• Environments seeking energy-efficient, unmanaged switching

How to use

Place the switch in a ventilated rack or on a stable surface and connect power. Attach network devices using standard Cat5e/Cat6 cables to the RJ-45 ports; Auto-MDI/MDI-X eliminates the need for crossover cables. The switch auto-negotiates speed (10/100/1000 Mbps) and duplex settings for each port. Monitor link and activity status via the front-panel LEDs to verify connections.

Recommendations

Use Cat5e or higher-rated Ethernet cables for full Gigabit performance, ensure adequate ventilation around the unit when rack-mounted, and connect high-bandwidth devices to separate ports to balance traffic. For uninterrupted operation, place the switch on a stable power source or use an appropriate UPS if required.
