Fiberkabel Helos 7,5 m OM4 ST

The Helos 7.5m OM4 ST fibre optic cable is a multimode patch cable designed for short- to medium-range high-speed network links. With a 7.5 metre length and a 50 µm core diameter, this OM4-rated cable delivers improved bandwidth and lower attenuation compared with earlier multimode grades, making it suitable for data centre and enterprise interconnects. Both ends are fitted with ST connectors for straightforward bayonet-style mating and stable mechanical coupling in compatible network equipment.

Advantages

This OM4 fibre optic cable provides higher modal bandwidth and optimized performance for laser-optimized transceivers, supporting increased data rates over multimode links. The 7.5 m length balances flexibility and reach for rack-to-rack and equipment-to-equipment connections. ST connectors offer robust, easy-to-use mechanical coupling, and the multimode 50 µm core supports common short-range optical standards while maintaining consistent signal quality.

Suitable for

• Data centre patching between racks and switches
• Enterprise network backbone segments and equipment interconnects
• Multimode network links using ST-terminated transceivers
• Short-range high-bandwidth applications such as server uplinks and SAN connections

Key specifications

• Length: 7.5 metres
• Fiber type: OM4 multimode
• Core diameter: 50 µm
• Connector type: ST to ST (2x ST on each end)
• Typical use: Short- to medium-range high-bandwidth multimode links

How to use

Install the fibre cable by aligning the ST connector bayonet with the socket on the network device and rotating the connector sleeve until it locks securely. Avoid bending the cable beyond its minimum bend radius and ensure connectors are clean before mating to prevent signal loss. Route the cable through cable management trays or ducts to protect it from physical stress and to maintain stable optical performance.

Recommendations

For best results, use this OM4 cable with laser-optimized multimode transceivers and maintain clean connector endfaces. Observe the minimum bend radius specified by your installation standards and avoid exposure to excessive mechanical strain or tight bundles that could increase attenuation.
