Fiberkabel Helos 5 m OM3 SC/ST

The Helos 5m OM3 SC/ST fibre optic cable is a multimode patch cable designed for reliable full-duplex data transmission in local networks and data centres. It features a 50 µm core diameter and OM3 specification to support high-bandwidth applications up to 10 Gbps over short to medium distances. One end terminates in an SC connector and the other in an ST connector, providing compatibility with equipment using either connector type and enabling straightforward integration into mixed-connector installations.

Advantages

This fibre optic cable delivers stable signal quality with reduced modal dispersion thanks to the 50 µm core and OM3 multimode construction. The mixed SC/ST termination allows flexible connectivity options without the need for additional adapters in many setups. Its 5-metre length is suitable for rack-to-rack and equipment-to-equipment connections while maintaining consistent bandwidth performance for Ethernet, storage area networks and other high-speed links.

Suitable for

• Patching between switches, servers and transceivers in data centres
• Connecting network devices with SC and ST ports in campus or office networks
• Short- to medium-distance multimode links supporting up to 10 Gbps
• Environments requiring full-duplex optical communication

Key specifications

• Fibre type: Multimode OM3
• Core diameter: 50 µm
• Connector A: SC (push-pull simplex-style)
• Connector B: ST (bayonet-style)
• Length: 5 metres
• Mode: Full duplex
• Supported bandwidth: Suitable for 10 Gbps multimode links over typical OM3 distances

How to use

Install the cable by inserting the SC connector into the matching SC port until it clicks, and connect the ST connector by aligning the key and twisting the bayonet coupling until secure. Ensure both ends are clean and free of dust or debris before connection; use appropriate fibre cleaning tools if necessary. Route the cable through cable management channels or trays to avoid sharp bends and excessive tension, and verify link status using network equipment diagnostics or an optical tester to confirm correct full-duplex operation.

Recommendations

Store and handle the fibre cable to avoid tight bends; maintain bend radius recommended for multimode OM3 fibres. Clean connectors before each use, use strain relief where available, and label both ends for easy identification in patch panels. For optimal performance, choose the Helos 5m OM3 SC/ST cable for short to medium multimode connections up to 10 Gbps and pair it with compliant transceivers and patching hardware.
