Fiberkabel Helos 3 m OM3 ST

The Helos 3m OM3 ST fibre optic cable provides a 3-meter full-duplex multimode connection with a 50 µm core diameter, terminated with ST connectors on both ends. Designed for short- to medium-range high-speed links, this OM3-grade cable supports typical LAN, SAN and data centre interconnect tasks where controlled attenuation and modal bandwidth are required. The cable’s construction balances flexibility and mechanical protection to maintain signal integrity across repeated moves and installations.

Advantages

The OM3 fiber construction delivers improved bandwidth for multimode links, enabling higher data rates over the specified reach compared with lower OM grades. ST connectors provide a reliable bayonet-style coupling that is widely used in networking equipment and patch panels, allowing straightforward installation and secure mating. The 3 m length offers convenience for rack-to-rack or equipment-to-patch-panel connections without excess slack, and the cable jacket is designed for typical indoor routing with resistance to bending and handling during deployment.

Suitable for

• Server-to-switch and switch-to-switch connections in data centres
• Storage area network (SAN) links requiring multimode OM3 performance
• Patch panel to active device interconnects in telecommunications rooms
• Short-range backbone and aggregation cabling in enterprise networks

Key specifications

• Fiber type: Multimode OM3
• Core diameter: 50 µm
• Length: 3 m
• Connector type: ST on both ends (full duplex)
• Polarity: Full duplex multimode configuration
• Typical application: Indoor data centre and LAN cabling

How to use

Connect each ST connector to the corresponding ST adapter or port, ensuring correct alignment and secure bayonet engagement. Route the cable avoiding sharp bends and compressive forces; maintain the manufacturer’s recommended minimum bend radius for multimode fiber to prevent increased attenuation. For patching in racks or panels, label both ends to simplify identification and document both endpoints in network diagrams. When connecting active equipment, power down devices if required by your installation procedures before inserting or removing fiber connections.

Recommendations

Inspect connector endfaces for contamination before installation and clean with appropriate fiber-cleaning tools if needed. Use strain relief and proper cable management to reduce mechanical stress. For critical links, verify performance with an appropriate loss test or OTDR trace to confirm link quality and compliance with OM3 expectations.
