Optisk dämpare CBO SFA24BK25 singlemode 25 dB

CBO SFA24BK25 Singlemode 25 dB optical attenuator is a fixed inline device designed to reduce optical signal power by 25 dB in singlemode fiber links. Manufactured by BlueOptics, this compact attenuator is intended for use in fiber-optic networks and test environments where stable, predictable attenuation is required to prevent receiver overload or to balance link budgets. The inline design allows simple insertion between fiber connectors without the need for special tools, making it suitable for laboratory, field, and maintenance applications.

Advantages

The attenuator provides a precise fixed attenuation of 25 dB with stable performance across typical singlemode wavelengths. Its small form factor and standardized connectors enable quick installation and removal, reducing downtime during testing or maintenance. The device is engineered to deliver repeatable attenuation values and low back-reflection, supporting reliable measurements and consistent network behavior. Robust mechanical construction ensures durability during handling and installation in different environments.

Suitable for

• Laboratory optical power measurements and calibration
• Field adjustments to prevent receiver saturation
• Link budget testing and verification in singlemode networks
• Maintenance operations where fixed attenuation is required

Key specifications

• Attenuation: fixed 25 dB
• Fiber type: singlemode
• Form factor: inline attenuator for connector insertion
• Return loss: designed for low back-reflection (typical for singlemode attenuators)
• Operating wavelengths: compatible with standard singlemode telecom wavelengths
• Construction: compact, rugged housing for field and lab use

How to use

Install the attenuator inline by connecting it between two compatible singlemode fiber connectors, ensuring clean and undamaged connector end-faces before mating. Verify connector type compatibility and orient the device so that the light travels through the attenuator in the intended direction if directional marking is present. After installation, confirm system power levels with an optical power meter to ensure the expected 25 dB reduction. When removing or storing the attenuator, protect the connector end-faces with dust caps to maintain performance.

Recommendations

Clean connector end-faces before use, avoid excessive bending of the fiber near the attenuator, and store the device in a protective container when not in use. Use this attenuator where fixed, stable attenuation is preferred over variable solutions, and verify system performance after insertion to confirm that receiver input levels are within specified ranges.
