Optisk dämpare CBO SFA22BK3 singlemode 3 dB SC simplex

CBO SFA22BK3 Singlemode 3 dB SC Simplex optical attenuator from BlueOptics is designed to reduce optical signal power in singlemode fibre links by a fixed 3 dB. Its compact inline SC simplex connector form factor allows integration directly into patch panels, adapters, fibre enclosures or field cabling to provide controlled attenuation for testing, link balancing and protection of sensitive receivers. The device is intended for use in standard singlemode networks and offers a passive, wavelength-independent solution for managing optical power levels.

Advantages

The attenuator provides a precise, stable 3 dB attenuation with low back reflection and consistent performance across common singlemode wavelengths. Its SC simplex connector and inline design make installation straightforward without additional adapters. Passive construction requires no power and ensures long-term reliability and maintenance-free operation in both lab and field environments.

Suitable for

• Balancing optical power between transmitters and receivers in singlemode links
• Reducing signal level for receiver protection during testing or commissioning
• Laboratory measurements and field verification of fibre links
• Integration into patch panels, wall boxes or connectorised patch cords

Key specifications

• Attenuation value: 3 dB (fixed)
• Fibre type: singlemode
• Connector type: SC simplex
• Design: inline/passive attenuator
• Typical return loss: low back reflection suitable for singlemode applications
• Operating characteristic: wavelength-independent over standard singlemode ranges

How to use

Insert the SC simplex connector of the attenuator directly between two SC-terminated fibre connectors or into an SC adapter in a patch panel. Ensure connectors are clean before mating to avoid insertion loss caused by contamination. The fixed 3 dB attenuation will be applied immediately when the attenuator is in place; no configuration or power is required. For measurement tasks, place the attenuator in the optical path at the point where reduction of power is needed and verify link performance with an optical power meter or OTDR as appropriate.

Recommendations

Store the attenuator in a clean, dry environment when not in use and avoid exposing connectors to dust. Always inspect and clean fibre endfaces with appropriate cleaning tools before connection. For best results in critical measurements, confirm attenuation effect with calibrated test equipment and avoid chaining multiple fixed attenuators unless total attenuation is verified.
